A – Z challenge # A Weekly Offering C. J. Black. (8)

A –Z Challenge

Alone with my thoughts

Blindingly obvious what is expected of this

Dutifully I sit myself down

Escape into my fantasy world

Grabbing fast at the opportunity.

Have an idea for this piece.

Indeed if I don’t succeed with

Journey –

Keep your distance –

Leave me alone –

Nerves will be on edge

Occasional utterances may turn the air blue

Plus copious glasses of wine may be imbibed.

Questions will be asked why

Results were not forthcoming to complete this A-Z.

Talking loudly at the reflection in the mirror

Verily I say unto you

WordPress really can urge you on to bigger and better things.

Xi for those interested is the 14th letter of the Greek alphabet

You knew that already – well clever you

Zonked after all that wine – Ah for some ZZZZZ’s

Nonsense Poem

What is it about cupboards that give skeletons a fright?

The fact that they are entering the unknown perhaps?

Not something that they want to pick bones with one another about, would I be right?

They must stand upright and face their ghosts they are no addition when in a state of collapse.

I’ve heard it said that there is no future in time travel

Still I like to holiday abroad

It is not something I ponder on – not something I try to unravel

One other thing confuses me though – why did the chicken cross the road?

Amazing things swirl around in my head

To write them down I always feel inclined

Such as, genius, is the talent of a person who is dead

You are standing on your soapbox – no one pays attention until you break wind.

The “Why” behind writing

Wort while checking on what is posted here.

West End

“Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the answer to everything. To ‘Why am I here?’ To uselessness. It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down, to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus” Enid Bagnold

-Writing is an art. To those who don’t believe me, pick up a pen or open up your laptop and try to write a beautiful story. Its not as easy as it seems.

-Even blogging can be tough. It’s not just anybody that can create a blog and start writing. What do you write about? What do you say? Will people want to read what you write about?

-I became a writer for exactly the same reasons that…

Not a Daffodil poem.

I’m not at all green fingered; now the world doesn’t need to know

That everywhere I’d sow a flower seed – a big weed would grow.

The alternative to this is no better – the thought of it gives me a nervous tick

They are hideous – well at least I think so – those flowers made out of plastic.

For years, I lived not a stones throw away from Dublin’s Botanical Gardens

Still don’t know my Aspidistras from my Rhododendrons.

Also in Dublin we have the Phoenix Park, a place where you can walk for miles

Where you’d never see or smell a flower – nothing only happy smiles.

Then they go and ruin it and invent this thing called Bloom

Which if you suffer from hay fever – it’s a place of doom and gloom!

Just incase you are in anyway distracted, this is a flower poem of sorts

I tell you there is no escaping them – even when on the beach, they adorn summer short.

You’ve seen them; I know you have, dressed in their Hawaiian gear

Honestly I tell you; from a stone they’d draw a tear.

On saying all that I must confess – I have no problem at all

To sit in a room where flower abound – once they’re hanging on a wall!

There are lots of flower poems out there; there is even one about the Daffodil

If I were ever to meet its author – he would know that looks can kill.

So in conclusion may I suggest – holiday in pollen country by all means

But make sure you are well stocked up on antihistamines.

Keep a cool head.

The call could be heard again and again

Continue to fight, it won’t be in vain.

But when you feel like you have fallen out of favour with the world

And the milk you poured in your coffee has just gone and curdled

Sit upright take a deep breath it’s bound to turn out right

It’s not your business, remember that your efforts have to be lauded you have been upright.

There really is none as blind as those who can not see

Looking at the world through rose tinted glasses people tend to see things differently

Honesty is the best policy when dealing with wheelers and dealers

I learned this lesson long ago when playing marbles with ball bearing steelers.
