Little does it know the joy it can bring
Not on its own it must be stressed
Its contents regularly ease stress
It is no mug this cup.
Eager always to be first in line
To be a harbinger of joy
Sometimes its contents taste sweet
On occasion have a bitter taste
Of course it never knows
After all it is just a cup
If it could respond surely
It would defend that statement
As in I am not just a cup
At times discriminated against
When placed beside a made in China cup
After all it is a China cup
It much prefers when it is hand washed
Rather than have to mix in with the contents
Of your ordinary dishwasher
Never was meant to be dishwasher friendly.
Its preferred tipple is lemon tea
Tea brewed from the humble tea leaf.
Tea bags – well they are for faceless cups.
