I once knew a green – eyed lady
Known to all and sundry as sexy Sadie
She loved to walk the streets at night
In her studded collar she looked a sight
She’d sit there and allow a passing stranger-
Stroke her, she was no danger-
She’d roll over allowing you to rub her belly
She’d turn a heart of stone to jelly
This green-eyed lady was my best friend
Faithful to the very end
She is now at home in doggie heaven
Yes, I adopted a stray, called him Beethoven
Much more sober than sexy Sadie
But just as faithful as the green-eyed lady.
